There are few items of clothing where evolution is quite as obvious as in trousers. Forget about the fact that women once only wore skirts and dresses – trousers for women genuinely only started gaining momentum in the 20th century, when they became a fashionable item of clothing. Which cut is the best?
Let's be honest: Nobody is ever completely happy with their figure. And if the legs were just that little bit longer, that would probably look much better. Of course that can be changed with exercise and diet – but it is much easier to just find the perfect pair of trousers. There is a perfect shape for every body type:

Top pleated trousers
With a suit jacket or casually for leisure: The combination makes the difference. Top pleated trousers stand out for their single or multiple pleats on the top of the leg, as well as a wide fit around the hips and bottom. The leg generally tapers towards the bottom, and the material is usually soft and flowing.
That makes top pleated trousers incredibly comfortable and a great mix-and-match item for virtually any occasion. With a beautiful blouse and pumps for a business look, or a light shirt with loafers for a more casual everyday look – the loose fit of these trousers will also conceal a few unwanted pounds in the hip area.
Culottes
Culottes are the perfect solution when a skirt is too breezy and trousers feel too stuffy. They are wide and flowing with plenty of freedom for the legs but they provide the same pros as trousers and enhance every figure. The skirt trousers generally reach down to the calves or ankles and their flowing shape is generally very flattering on typical problem areas.
A turtleneck shirt or blouse make culottes great for the office or with a jumper and sneakers for a cool winter look. It is recommended that people with shorter legs wear shoes with heels.
Cigarette trousers
Slim cut cigarette trousers are best when they come in bright colours or floral patterns , which makes them trendy and will lift your spirits. The tight, straight cut model is especially nice when paired with wide tops, as it makes the legs look a lot slimmer. Light blouses complete the look for working at an office and makes for a more elegant alternative to classic trousers like chinos.
Leggings
Trousers couldn't get more comfortable than this – whilst also being incredibly versatile to combine. Long blouses or jumpers make them suitable for every time of year and the variety of colours as well as materials make them incredibly varied. How about some black leather leggings with a white shirt and oversized cardigan? And it is completely up to you if you wear loafers, lace-up shoes or boots with that.
Marlene pants
It was the iconic Marlene Dietrich who famously wore this style of trousers for women in the 1930s – something that at the time was unheard of for women to wear in public. This gorgeous look with a high waist and wide legs and softly flowing material works for any body type. Slim fitting tops accentuate the waist and create a beautifully feminine silhouette. A matching belt will further enhance the effect.
Cord trousers
