History The history of Sportalm began in 1953 with founding of a knitting mill by Willi Kruetschnigg. From 1968, the company also produced dirndls in Kitzbühel. Sportalm caused a stir in the 1970s with its traditional dress: the company deviated from the traditional dirndl style and integrated colours such as pink and yellow into the clothing. From 1973, Sportalm rapidly developed into Austria's leading company for skiwear and traditional dress, with particularly the Sportalm jacket proving a hit. In 2004, the range was expanded with trendy young fashion in the form of the e.motion collection.
