MÄRZ MÜNCHEN: 100 years of first-class knitting quality

Soft, cuddly and shapely: MÄRZ MÜNCHEN represents high-quality knitwear for men and women. Founded in Munich in 1920, the company was taken over in 2010 by Olymp Bezner, but continues to present itself as an independent limited partnership with a family feel within the new group. The head office in Munich also remains unchanged. Production takes place in Europe, and is then exported around the world.

MÄRZ MÜNCHEN: the innovative wool specialist

Innovation shaped the production of MÄRZ MÜNCHEN. As early as 1938, the first fully automatic knitting machines were introduced. In 1953, Austrian alpinist Hermann Buhl was the first person to successfully climb the Nanga Parbat wearing a special MÄRZ sports pullover. In 1979, the wool ""Merino Superwash"" was created. It can be machine washed at up to 30 degrees while retaining its shape and remaining beautiful.

In general, MÄRZ MÜNCHEN specialise in wool, especially merino wool, which comes mainly from Australia. From this the Classic Fit series for men is produced, as well as the Merino extra fine series for men and women. Furthermore, there are particularly light woollen fabrics as summer merino and a merino silk cashmere mix for aesthetically pleasing, high-quality men's jumpers that are suitable to wear to work. Last but not least, the company has had a great hit with Geelong, a silky-soft merino wool that comes from shearing very young Merino sheep.

Production in Europe, successfully distributed worldwide

MÄRZ MÜNCHEN relies on high standards. In order to guarantee this in every detail, around 400 employees work in a company-owned spinning mill in Hungary. This is where jumpers, cardigans, blazers, waistcoats and even coats are made. Only the best raw materials are used. In addition to merino and alpaca wool, they use cashmere, mohair and cotton. For example, the ""IQ wool"" used for one of their men's collections, is a true specialty: clothing that is cotton-lined on the inside and new wool on the outside, which gives you a very pleasant body climate, as you would expect from sportswear.

In order to achieve the high quality, work is not only done on various knitting machines of all sizes, but is also done manually. At every stage, meticulous care is taken to ensure yarns and stitches blend into a harmonious whole. If something gets entangled, everything is carefully separated again and the fine yarns from Europe and the exquisite wool are re-processed. Nothing is wasted.
