The Lodenfrey brand is synonymous with tradition and innovation. Classic forms are forever being reinterpreted and combined with functional materials to create first-rate fashion. Lodenfrey is primarily renowned for its robust clothing made from wind-resistant, waterproof loden cloth. Gore-Tex is increasingly being used for modern leisurewear. The innovative Gore-Tex membrane prevents water from penetrating yet allows moisture to be wicked away from the body. The weather-proofing of Gore-Tex jackets is tested according to stringent criteria, meaning men are optimally attired for all weathers with a jacket by Lodenfrey.
Brand philosophyThe Munich-based company is committed to its values: a passion for fashion, expert skills and a sense of responsibility for one's fellow human beings and the environment characterise the Lodenfrey brand. However, above all open-mindedness and acknowledgement and appreciation of the achievements of others are key. A customer focus and quality management also count among Lodenfrey's high demands.
History Johann Georg Frey is the inventor of the waterproof material known as loden. In 1854, he was awarded the gold medal for the innovative material at the World Exhibition in Paris. Frey opened his first shop in Munich in 1850, demonstrating a great deal of innovative spirit here too: his shop was the first to feature a floor to ceiling glass front known as a show window. Following its destruction during the Second World War, Karl Erich Nagel, the husband of Frey's niece, rebuilt the shop in Munich. Today it still shines it all its former glory. Besides functional clothing, the Lodenfrey range also includes traditional dress and casual leisurewear.
