Tried-and-tested traditions are relied upon in the production of Giesswein shoes, wellington boots and milled wool country style jackets. Wool is milled in special washing machines until the wool fibres are fulled to create the material. The outcome is the robust and pleasant Giesswein milled wool affording countless positive properties, which include high wear comfort, shape retention and breathability. Special milling procedures ensure the natural gloss and colour of the wool are retained. At the same time, shoes and country style jackets set themselves apart due to their beading effect and warmth retention properties. This applies for the bestselling slipper – the Dannheim, which has been a favourite for years – just as much as it does for all other slippers.
Brand philosophyThe Giesswein brand values reflect both their Alpine roots and modern values. Hence the affinity for nature and awareness of traditions are combined with a wealth of ideas and pioneering spirit. Giesswein always pursues clear lines, combining these with careful appliqué and hand-finished elements to create unique designs. The company focuses on naturalness and high wear comfort in the process: Giesswein slippers made from 100% new wool always ensure a pleasant barefoot feel.
History Elisabeth and Walter Giesswein established their company in Brixlegg in Tyrol back in 1954. Following preliminary tests in their washing machine at home, the Giessweins produced the first milled wool country style jackets with an industrial milled wool machine in 1958. In 1974, the company launched its famous Giesswein slippers on the market. In the years that followed, production was expanded to women's and children's fashion as well as to shoes and home textiles. The patented profiled natural rubber soles developed in 1999 today guarantee the non-slip durability of the soles.
