History Monsieur Garnichon developed the comfortable shapewear in 1876 as an alternative to stiff corsets. He used an innovative technique for his shapewear to produce elasticated knitwear for women's underwear. This was replaced with soft tulle in 1950 – the birth hour of the Chantelle brand. 1960Garnichon's innovative power continued to characterise the company's success story: in 1960, the company introduced its first Chantelle BH and the first moulded bras soon followed in 1970.
